Cultural tours in India

Louise Nicholson’s cultural tours in India are meticulously planned down to the best time of day to visit a monument and the best hotel rooms. There are opportunities to taste good local cuisine, and to visit local craftsmen and quality shops rather than tourist traps. Her itineraries are wide-ranging – from the classic ‘golden triangle’ of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur to crossing the South India peninsular's little known cities. Her tours also explore riches of Central India and the Deccan, tour the Ganges River and seek out lesser known Rajasthan.

While escorting her clients, her commentaries provide local information and set it in the wider Indian cultural context.

Louise has worked with the same back-up team in India since 1988. It comprises some of India’s finest agents, drivers, guides. Her repeat clientele is 70%, and some clients have travelled with her seven times. To find out about Louise's future tours, click on "Louise's free newsletter"

Li-Lou, California
“I chose to travel with Louise because her elegantly written guidebook "India in Luxury" (first published 1985) traveled with me on my first trip to India. I knew a trip with her would include people and places passed by in other "cookie-cutter" itineraries. What has been exceptional about her trips is the chance to stay in lesser-visited but very rewarding areas relatively free of tourists. We have experienced religious festivals, visited weavers, and met local people from all strata of society. I have traveled with Louise three times and will travel with her again because you can always expect the delightfully unexpected with Louise, trips are well organized and, most importantly, they are invariably great fun.”
