Ritual in India

As the Hindu religion touches almost every act of daily life, so too does ritual in India, starting with the morning puja (worship) to welcome the sun. Visitors need to be aware of some practical rituals: shoes are removed before entering a home or temple, a guest always arrives with a gift, food is eaten with the right hand only. In a temple, be sure not to stand in direct line of the deity during a puja.
