Bronzes in India

In India, you can look at a 12th century Chola bronze and then go to a 21st century bronze atelier to see how it was made; the craft remains virtually the same! Bronzes in India (actually often copper alloy or brass) are almost always of deities and kept in the temples, to be clothed in silk and jewels for festival parades. Louise says: for tip top bronzes, do not miss the museum collections in Chennai and Thanjavur.
