Architecture in India

India has world class buildings of all kinds: religious, royal and secular. Some are easy to see – Agra’s Taj Mahal and Fort, Lutyens’s New Delhi, Khajuraho’s temples, Mumbai’s High Victorian public buildings. But much of the greatest architecture of India demands effort to reach it. Louise’s favourite places include Ellora’s rock-cut temples, Vijayanagar’s deserted city, Chidambarum’s temple, Sanchi’s stupa gateways and the two Muslim cities of Mandu and Bider.
